A truly singular musical force, Gail Ann Dorsey has built her life in devotion to music and its power to transcend. The Philadelphia-born singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist is one of the most celebrated bassists of her generation, known for her dynamic voice and genre-spanning collaborations. Most notably, Dorsey spent nearly a decade as bassist and vocalist with David Bowie (1995–2004) , delivering the unforgettable duet “Under Pressure” on stages around the world and contributing to albums including Earthling and Reality. Her career also includes work with artists ranging from Seal and Gwen Stefani to Lenny Kravitz, Tears for Fears, and Joan Osborne. A compelling solo artist in her own right, Gail Ann returns with The Appearance of Life, her first album in over two decades—an expressive, deeply human work led by the single “It Takes All Kinds to Make a World.”
