Elk Creek Cafe & Aleworks Celebrates 18 Years of being Rooted in Millheim

    Monday, December 15, 2025

The Elk Creek Cafe & Aleworks will be celebrating 18 years during the weekend of December 19-21, 2025.

The weekend celebration begins on December 19, 2025, with the unveiling of the 18th Anniversary Ale. Then from 4 pm to 6:30 pm, author Lew Bryson will be doing a Meet and Greet and Book Signing. Bryson is author of Pennsylvania Breweries (Breweries Series), Tasting Whiskey: An Insider's Guide to the Unique Pleasures of the World's Finest Spirits and Whiskey Master Class: The Ultimate Guide to Understanding Scotch, Bourbon, Rye, and More.

Then on Saturday, December 20, 2025, Ken Swartz featuring Tom Lowry and Richard Sleigh will be performing at 7 pm. At 7:30, a special birthday cake will be cut, and all attendees will be able to get a free slice. There will also be door prizes, surprises and a lot more!

On Sunday, December 21, Elk Creek Cafe + Aleworks will welcome back The MacGillicuddies for a rare appearance! The MacGillicuddies began in the musical ferment of Ithaca, NY in the late 1990s; playing a mix of zydeco and electric old-time music, going on to play gigs and festivals throughout New York, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and beyond. When the Elk Creek Cafe was still a but a twinkle in somebody’s eye, the MacGillicuddies played the Equinox Cafe, impossibly squeezing 7 people into the front window housing the bench seats of what is now the Elk Creek Cafe + Aleworks.

Later, with Elk Creek fully rockin’, The Macs played a series of shows in Millheim over the span of 10 years (once playing a nearly 4-hour non-stop show!). These events were absolutely legendary for packing the Elk Creek with dancing fanatics, and in the process became the favorite of venues for the band. It’s no exaggeration to say that The MacGillicuddies are part of Elk Creek’s story and history, and Elk Creek is a big part of the story and history of the Macs as well.

On Sunday, the band, with members coming in from across the country, will be reuniting to help celebrate the 18th anniversary of Elk Creek Cafe + Aleworks, and to orchestrate yet one more wild Millheim zydeco throwdown! This will be a rare opportunity to catch The MacGillicuddies — join them and help celebrate music, community, and Elk Creek.
