Spring shows kick into high gear in Happy Valley
UNIVERSITY PARK – Trying to break out of the winter doldrums? Well, even though Mother Nature isn’t cooperating (temperatures aren’t expected to get out of the 40s this week), there are some great shows coming to Happy Valley that should warm you up.
Here are five shows that will get you excited for the remainder of March and April as spring battles its way into Happy Valley.
“Dirty Dancing” – The popular movie starring Jennifer Grey and the late Patrick Swayze comes to life on stage! Watch the story of love, dance, romance and self-discovery unfold in front of your very eyes. The amazing show will be staged this week at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 20 and Wednesday, March 21 at Eisenhower Auditorium to kick off an incredible several weeks in Happy Valley. Miranda Lambert – The country music star’s “Livin’ Like Hippies” Tour comes to Happy Valley at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 23 at the Bryce Jordan Center. Lambert is one of country music’s living legends, so get out your cowboy boots and cowboy hat and get ready for a great night with all of Lambert’s greatest hits. “Lunafest” – OK, it’s not a live performance, but still worthy of your attention. What is Lunafest? Well, it’s a collection of short films by, for and about women all in one festival. Some of the highlights of this year’s Lunafest are short films “Buttercup,” “Girls Level Up,” “Last Summer, in the Garden” and “Toys.” The films will be shown on the big screen at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28. Straight No Chaser – The extremely popular acapella group returns to Happy Valley for a stop on their “Speakeasy” Tour. The all-male group hits the stage at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11 at Eisenhower Auditorium. Visit www.cpa.psu.edu for tickets.
“Jersey Boys” – You probably heard all about “Jersey Boys.” Well, now is your chance to find out what all the hype is about. The Grammy and Oliver Award-Winning musical about Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons will be performed at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17 and Wednesday, April 18 at Eisenhower Auditorium.
