    While Benjamin Franklin never officially proposed the wild turkey as the national bird, learn about why he praised it as a “respectable” and “courageous” native bird in a 1784 private letter. These birds are in their breeding and nesting cycle with up to 10-12 poults hatching by early summer. At the Environmental Learning Center, we’ll learn about their contributions to the park’s biodiversity.
