An Evening with TUNESMITH brings together a collective of the region’s most compelling songwriters for a night of thoughtful, original music in our upstairs listening room. Formed in 2024, TuneSmith is a State College–based songwriting collaborative that meets regularly to share new work inspired by creative prompts spanning a wide range of themes. Their very first prompt—“write a song with the line ‘in lieu of flowers’ somewhere in the lyrics”—was sparked by a chance encounter at a music event at Pine Grove Hall. It’s fitting, then, that TuneSmith returns to the place where the idea was born. The group performs each other’s songs with shared acoustic accompaniment, creating an intimate, collaborative listening experience.
