PSU hockey fans can secure home tourney tickets

UNIVERSITY PARK – This year, the fight to the Big Ten Tournament will be very different compared to the past five years.  

After recently being held in spots such as Detroit, Michigan, and St. Paul, Minnesota, the Big Ten Men’s Ice Hockey Tournament is coming to campus sites starting with the Quarterfinals round, March 2-4, 2018. The Quarterfinals will see the No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 seeds host the No. 7, No. 6 and No. 5 seeds in a best-of-three series. 

The semifinals the following week, March 10, will be single-elimination with the lowest remaining seed traveling to the No. 1 seed and the two remaining seeds after that playing against each other at the site of the higher seed. The Championship game on March 17 will then be hosted by the highest remaining seed in the tournament. The overall No. 1 seed will earn home-ice advantage throughout the playoffs should they continue to advance.

Penn State has a chance of hosting being 12-7-3 for the season and 5-4-3-2 in conference play. 

According to, Men’s hockey season ticket holders can now log in to the Penn State Ticket Portal to secure their season ticket location for all five potential home games in the Big Ten Tournament. The deadline for season ticket holders to secure their season ticket location is Friday, February 9.  

They also highly encourage fans to select the “Pay as We Play” payment plan option when purchasing their tickets. This will allow fan’s credit cards to not be charged until it has been confirmed Penn State will host games during the Big Ten Tournament. Credit cards being used for the “Pay as We Play” payment plan must have an expiration date of March 2018 or later.

Should Penn State host the Quarterfinals, March 2-4, credit cards initially will be charged for the first two games of the series. If the series requires the third game be played, credit cards will be charged immediately following completion of the second game on March 3. If Penn State were to host the Semifinal game (March 10) and/or the Big Ten Championship (March 17) credit cards would be charged once it has been confirmed the game(s) will be played at Pegula Ice Arena. Pricing for the Big Ten Tournament will remain consistent to regular season per game pricing for men’s hockey season ticket holders.

With the quick turnaround of these playoff games and sudden changes in seeding that could occur during the final weeks of the regular season, mobile ticketing will be the primary method of entry for the Big Ten Hockey Tournament.  Physical paper tickets will not be mailed. suggests, for the easiest and most convenient ticket management, that fans download the revamped GoPSUsports app from the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play Store (Android – COMING SOON.)
