Outdoor Fun in the Summer Sun

Summer is just around the corner, so make sure to work plenty of outside time into your plans! Here are a few of our favorite spots for fun in the sun in Happy Valley’s beautiful great outdoors.

With 11 gardens and groves to choose from and benches a plenty, you will have no problem finding the perfect place to relax the day away. Bring your children to the Childhood's Gate Children's Garden where they can play and even get an up-close look at different plants through their special kaleidoscopes or walk the many paths and help them learn the names of their favorite flowers with the aid of descriptive plaques.

They have eight rides for the younger kids in their Kid's Kingdom and 14 rides for the whole family to enjoy. They even have three thrill rides for the more adventurous type. Take your kids panning for gemstones, work your way through Prospector Pete's Miners Maze and finish your adventure with some hand-dipped ice cream or tasty fudge at the Cave Café.

Central Pennsylvania is home to numerous beautiful state parks for you to adventure through. They are perfect for boating, fishing, hiking and much more, and with so many to choose from, we know you will find the perfect one for you, your friends and you family. Closest to home: Bald Eagle State Park, which offers boat and pavilion rentals, a swimming beach, a snack bar, hiking, fishing and more; Whipple Dam, a quieter option for the true nature lover where you can enjoy swimming, fishing, trails and paddling.
