Colyer Lake

Located in Centre County, Colyer Lake is a 77-acre impoundment owned by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and managed by the Fish and Boat Commission for public fishing and boating.

FISHING
Colyer Lake is managed under Big Bass Program regulations and Panfish Enhancement Special Regulations, statewide regulations for Commonwealth Inland Waters apply for all other species of fish. A fishing pier is available for persons with disabilities.

Fish habitat structures have been placed in the lake over the years as part of the Commission's Cooperative Fish Habitat Improvement Program.

BOATING

Boating at Colyer Lake is limited to boats powered by electric motors and un-powered boats. Two surfaced launch ramps are available along with associated parking facilities.

Un-powered boats may be moored at the lake in accordance with Commission property regulations. To be used at the lake, boats must be registered or have a valid launch permit (permits are issued by the Commission or PA Dept. of Conservation and Natural Resources).

The wildlife around Colyer Lake is extensive. There are over 200 Species of birds that have been sighted there, including Bald Eagle, Osprey and various species of ducks. The Pennsylvania Society for Ornithology (PSO), sites Colyer Lake as a go-to birding area in Centre County. As noted by Linda Keil, the PSO notes on their website that, "Colyer Lake is a place to check for migrating waterfowl and shore birds."
