About the Bellefonte Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution
We are the Bellefonte Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, descendants of ordinary women and men who accomplished extraordinary achievements while fighting to help establish our nation. We share a common bond in honoring our ancestors who sacrificed a great deal to gain freedom and independence for all of us.
We pay tribute to their heritage and sacrifices through volunteer work that promotes historic preservation, education and patriotism.
As the 250th anniversary of our nation approaches we have defined several projects to commemorate the occasion. We are actively engaged in gravesite preservation and documentation of Centre County Revolutionary War Patriots. We have also established Wreaths Across America at Bellefonte’s Union Cemetery to honor and remember all of those who have sacrificed to protect our freedoms from the very beginning and continuing to this day.
We welcome prospective members and guests. We meet regularly in person and on zoom. Many of our meetings include guest speakers who offer an array of interesting subjects. We understand busy schedules and enjoy the company of all who participate when they can. Please visit our website to learn more about us.
DAR members come from a variety of backgrounds and interests but all share a common bond of having an ancestor who helped contribute to securing the independence of the United States of America. Any woman, 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution is eligible to join.
