When you think of food and State College, there are a few classics that always spring to mind: the Berkey Creamery, The Tavern, The Allen Street Grill — now Spats at the Grill — the Original Waffle Shop, Pickles, Happy Valley Brewing Company, Otto's Pub and so many more. Although we love the food and atmosphere of these favorites, a few new eateries have popped up that are definitely worth a taste.

STATE COLLEGE – The Grilled Sticky has a new home.
The Corner Room, one of the hospitality properties owned by Hotel State College & Company, will now be downtown’s “new home” to get Ye Olde College Diner’s famous Grilled Stickies. The New York Times described grilled stickies as “an elongated cinnamon roll that, after baking, is reheated on a greased grill and served piping hot, sometimes with ice cream on top.” They were featured in Rick Sebak’s 1993 documentary “Pennsylvania Diners & Other Roadside Restaurants.”

UNIVERSITY PARK – Are you ready for a new flavor of ice cream, Happy Valley?
Penn State’s Berkey Creamery announced on Monday on social media that it will now sell “Grilled Stickies” flavored ice cream. The Creamery’s latest flavor is named after the famous treat from Ye Olde College Diner in downtown State College.
According to the Creamery’s website, the ice cream will be cinnamon bun flavored with pieces of sticky bun dough and a cinnamon streusel swirl throughout.

We might not be out with the old — Happy Valley is home to countless one-of-a-kind restaurants that now feel like home — but we do happen to be in with the new.
Welcome the rising restaurants that joined the Centre County family by giving their menus and dishes a go; each new family member has something to add to the plate, whether it be the new grab-and-go at Yallah Burrito Co., or the Federal Taphouse’s farm-to-table-style cuisine. So, what are you waiting for?

If you thought doughnuts could only be eaten for breakfast… think again.
With all of the new doughnut shops on the rise, you can eat a specialty doughnut at any time of the day. Here are a few of the most popular:
Peace, Love, and Little Donuts: They are finally here, in State College! Specializing in miniature doughnuts, Peace, Love, and Little Donuts is the latest talk of the town. State College has always been in need of a groovy and funkadelic doughnut and coffee shop. Mix and match the frosting and toppings and you'll never have a dull doughnut again.

It's National Sticky Bun Day. In Happy Valley, there's no substitute for a Grilled Sticky.
There’s no denying it. The Grilled Sticky has been the most sought out treat by Penn Staters since 1929 and is continually requested by locals and a must taste by tourists stopping through.
