PSU hockey heads to Arizona State for two-game series
UNIVERSITY PARK -- The Penn State men's hockey team is off to a somewhat bumpy start, but there's plenty of time to right the ship.
Two weeks ago, Penn State fell to Mercyhurst 7-4 in the first matchup of the series on Friday night. Penn State then came back the next night to defeat the Lakers 7-5, splitting the series.
It was a record night for Andrew Sturtz, as he topped former Nittany Lion Casey Bailey for first place in the program's goal scoring record with 46 total goals. That's eight goals so far for Sturtz this season, but the record-setting didn't stop there. Sturtz set a new single-game Penn State record with four assists that night -- his fourth multi-point game of the season and the 22nd of his career. Captain James Robinson became the fifth Nittany Lion to register a hat trick, all three of his goals being his firsts of the season.
Penn State will return home during the Thanksgiving break to face Michigan State at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 24 and 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 25.
