Promotions highlight PSU baseball weekend series

UNIVERSITY PARK – As the winter weather breaks – finally – Penn State baseball fans can finally get a chance to see their Nittany Lions at home.

This weekend, the Nittany Lions face Big Ten rival Ohio State at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. The weather is supposed to be very spring-like. In fact, temperatures are expected to be in the 70s on Friday and Saturday and in the 60s on Sunday, according to AccuWeather in State College. Needless to say, it will be a perfect weekend for Big Ten baseball.

Penn State Athletics has promotions each day during the three-game set. Here’s what fans can expect:

FRIDAY, APRIL 13

The first game of the three-game set with the Buckeyes will be a big one. There is a sunglasses giveaway for students and it will be fireworks night at Medlar Field. It will also be Faculty-Staff Night, Team ICA Night and Penn State SAAB’s 800 Strong Game. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.

SATURDAY, APRIL 14

The second game of the three-game set is social media day. There will be a pregame photo booth. Additionally, the Penns Valley and Bald Eagle Area High School baseball teams will face off at 6 p.m. or 30 minutes following the conclusion of the Penn State-Ohio State game. First pitch of the Penn State game is scheduled for 2 p.m.

SUNDAY, APRIL 15

The final game of the three-game set will be Military Appreciation Day.

All Veterans and First Responders can claim up to four free tickets by contacting Steve Christ at (814) 272-0208. Additional tickets can be purchased at a discounted rate of $2. Fans will be able to see First Responder vehicles up close in the Porter North Parking Lot in the Touch-A-Truck exhibit. Pregame, fans can write letters that will be mailed to members of the United States’ Military. There will be postgame “Kids Run the Bases” and postgame autographs.
