Lions Prepare for Big Ten Tournament

The Penn State men capped off their season on the hardwood a game above .500 with a thrilling, double overtime 86-79 win Sunday against the Fighting Illini of Illinois Sunday at the Bryce Jordan Center.

Shep Garner dropped 22 points on the Illini along with five rebounds and six assists while Brandon Taylor contributed with a double-double, scoring 21 points and grabbing 11 boards. For those of you keeping score at home, Garner and Taylor combined for 43 of Penn State’s 86 points.

After missing multiple games with mono, Josh Reaves topped his career-high 12 points, with 13 against the Illini and is starting to come into his own for the Lions.

The Lions finished the 2015-2016 campaign 16-15 overall and 7-11 in the Big 10 conference.

Looking ahead, the men will face the 19-12 Ohio State Buckeyes March 10 at 6:30 p.m. at Bankers Life Field House in Indianapolis. ESPN2 and ESPN3 will air the game, respectively.

Despite the anemic 7-11 Big Ten mark posted by this year’s team, the Lions still have a chance at a number nine seed in the Big Ten Tournament as they square off against the buckeyes Thursday Night.
