It's a busy couple of days for Penn State sports

UNIVERSITY PARK – It’s a big sports weekend in Happy Valley.

It all starts this afternoon, when the Penn State women’s volleyball team takes on Missouri at 2 p.m. at Rec Hall in the third round of the NCAA Tournament. If you can’t make it to Rec Hall, check out the match on ESPNU.

The Nittany Lions (31-1) are gunning for another national championship under head coach Russ Rose. At 4 p.m., Michigan State and Illinois will do battle for the right to play the winner of Penn State-Missouri. Today’s winners will battle in the Regional Finals on Saturday night beginning at 8 p.m. Gates open at 6:30.

The Penn State men’s hockey team faces Robert Morris University at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh tonight, so unless you’re up for a last-minute road trip, you’ll have to wait until tomorrow to see the Nittany Lions.

On Saturday, things really heat up in Happy Valley. There are plenty of choices on the schedule.

At 4 p.m., the men’s basketball team takes on George Washington at the Bryce Jordan Center. The Nittany Lions are coming off a tough one-point loss at the hands of Wisconsin on Monday night. The Nittany Lions are 7-3 overall, including a 5-1 mark at home.

After the basketball game, you’ve got a decision to make.

At 7 p.m., the Penn State men’s hockey team takes on Robert Morris University at Pegula Ice Arena. Depending on how the team fares in Pittsburgh tonight, the Nittany Lions are riding an eight-game unbeaten streak (4-0-4).

Of course, if the women’s volleyball team wins tonight, there will be a match at 8 p.m. at Rec Hall. Decisions, decisions.

Sunday is a rare day off for all Penn State sports teams.
