Wingfest Finals Thursday Night at Tussey Mountain

The King of the Wings will be crowned this Thursday night as the 17th annual Tussey Mountain Wingfest comes to a close. The finals feature the top six local restaurants that won the preliminary rounds throughout the summer and now get to compete for the best wings in Happy Valley.

The six winners of the preliminary rounds that will vie for the Wingfest championship on Thursday include: The Wilderness Lodge in Milroy; the Arena Bar & Grill on Martin St. in State College; Kelly's Steak and Seafood in Boalsburg; Gigi's Southern Table on Cato Ave. in State College; the Alexandria American Legion; and downtown State College staple Bill Pickle's Tap Room.

Tussey Mountain Wingfest has evolved over time into its current state as a competition decided by the people's vote -- each paid guest through the gate receives one vote ticket which can be used to select your favorite wing vendor of the night. Votes are tallied at 9:30pm and  the 2016 Tussey Mountain Wing King will be announced by the end of the show.

All six of the remaining contenders for the best wings in the area are all deserving of the title. Whether you like your wings super hot, with an Old Bay dry rub, or with some garlic and honey BBQ sauce – you will not be disappointed on Thursday night at Wingfest.

And if wings just aren't your thing – Wingfest has many other food and entertainment options that make it one of the best summer traditions in all of Pennsylvania.  For the past three years, Tussey Mountain – with events like Wingfest and the upcoming Oktoberfest celebration – has been named the "Best Place to See Live Music" by State College Magazine. Some of the great vendors that will be at the Wingfest finals include Doan's Bones BBQ, Packer's Concessions, Rosie's Pierogies, Rita's Italian Ice, The Weiner Wagon and Carl's Crazy Corn. And after you've had a few wings and casted your vote for the best wings in the area, you can enjoy the other great activities at Tussey Mountain like Go-Karts, Mini Golf, Batting Cages and the Skate Park!

Tickets to get into Wingfest are $5 and parking is free. Doors to the Wingfest finals open at 5:30 p.m. and the party gets underway at 6 p.m. with live music from arguably the area's best rock band, Ted & the Hi-Fi's. State College's favorite party band My Hero Zero will close out the night with a high-energy set at 7:30 p.m.

Come on out to Tussey Mountain Thursday night and make sure your vote is counted for the best wings in the area!
