Penn State volleyball tops Pitt to advance to Sweet 16

UNIVERSITY PARK — Penn State is moving on.

 

 

The No. 1 Nittany Lion volleyball team toppled rival Pitt, 3-1, on Saturday night in Rec Hall. With the win, the Lions move on to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.

 

 

The Nittany Lions knocked off the Panthers 25-20, 23-25, 25-22, 25-19. Penn State’s Simone Lee and Haleigh Washington had big performances in the victory.

 

With the win, Penn State advances to its 15th straight Regional, but for the first time since 2010, Penn State will host the Regional at Rec Hall. Penn State has

hosted a Regional in 1997, 1998, 1999, 2005, 2007, 2008, and 2010.

 

 

The Nittany Lions will play the University of Missouri on Friday, Dec. 8 in Rec Hall. The time of the match is to be determined. Michigan State will also be at the University Park Regional and will play the winner of the Illinois/Washington match.
