Penn State Predictions: Battle at The 'Shoe
Well, this is the week.
Penn State puts its No. 2 ranking and unbeaten season on the line when it travels to Columbus to take on No. 6 Ohio State. The game will kick at 3:30 on FOX, which is a break for Penn State. Not having to deal with a night game at the Horseshoe helps, at least a bit. But Ohio Still will be gunning for revenge after
Michael Kresovich, sports intern (season record 7-0): Penn State punched the Michigan Wolverines in the mouth last weekend. It clicked on all cylinders and could not have played a better game. This week is different, The Nits are on the road as they take on the Ohio State Buckeyes in a Big ten showdown with College Football Playoff implications on the line. Ohio State is planning to do what Penn State did to the Buckeyes last season, a “Black Out” in hopes of shocking the opposing team’s players. Penn State’s offense is unpredictable as of late, I think the Buckeyes will have a hard time prepping for the plethora of attacks PSU has to offer. Ohio State is in mid-season form and is the most talented team PSU has yet to face. Penn State pulls out a thrilling victory in Columbus.
Penn State 31, Ohio State 27.
Matt Lingerman, sports intern (season record 7-0): This a game Penn State fans have had circled on their calendars for months, and it couldn't come at a more pivotal time. The Nittany Lions have a legitimate chance to all but lock up a spot in the playoff with a win at the Shoe, but Ohio St. is no walk over. While the blue and white couldn't have looked better against Michigan, the Buckeyes have a home crowd and thirst for vengeance on their side. If the Nittany Lions can contain J.T. Barrett, they have a real shot to win.
Ohio State 24, Penn State 16.
Chris Morelli, managing editor (season record 7-0): After a blowout win over Michigan, the Nittany Lions head on the road for their stiffest challenge to date. The Horsehoe is one of the toughest places to play in the country, so this one won’t be easy. Look for the Buckeyes to bottle up Saquon Barkley, putting a crazy amount of pressure on Trace McSorley. But this ain’t Iowa City, and the Buckeyes won’t lose twice at home this season.
Ohio State 27, Penn State 24.
John Patishnock, beat writer (season record 7-0): Count on Ohio State showing something new, just like Penn State did on Saturday. The Buckeyes are coming off a bye and facing their biggest game of the season. With a mobile QB and some extra time to prepare, the Buckeyes have options and opportunity Saturday to showcase J.T. Barrett in new ways.
Ohio State 31, Penn State 27.
Abbi Sales, sports intern (season record 7-0): It's no secret that Penn State's 24-21 win against Ohio State last season is fueling the fire for this weekend’s game at The Shoe. Although the Buckeyes have revenge on the brain – along with the reminder that if they lose, their playoff dreams are gone – the Nittany Lions have kept in mind that this is their biggest game of the season. Both teams have good offensive play and are two of the top scoring teams in the nation, making it a highly anticipated game. I'm predicting a vicious battle with a close score. Another nailbiter.
