Top Summer Fun, Weekend by Weekend

Football season is far from the only thing that draws people back to Happy Valley each year. With our beloved annual traditions like 4th Fest, Arts Fest, WingFest and Spikes games, summer is one big celebration here. On top of that, this summer promises some amazing first-ever events that are sure to become new favorite traditions themselves. So whether you’re only in town for one of these weekends or you never left, make sure you know all that’s going on, because it may just be the best summer yet in Happy Valley!

Happy Valley Jam: Weekend of July 7 – 9
This weekend is all about the music. Happy Valley Jam—the monumental first-ever concert at Beaver Stadium—takes place Saturday the 8th, featuring Blake Shelton, Chris Young, Big & Rich, and more (and also featuring Beaver Stadium’s first alcohol sales). Meanwhile, the extremely popular Remington Ryde Bluegrass Festival will be roaring all weekend long at Grange Park in Centre Hall. Pink Floyd fans will want to be at the State Theatre on Saturday for yet another gig: The Machine Plays Pink Floyd, known as America’s top Pink Floyd show. If you’re here on Thursday the 6th, don’t miss the kickoff of WingFest—a nearly 20-year tradition where the best wing makers from all around go head to head tournament-style each week, held at Tussey Mountain. And in the sports department, catch the Spikes at Medlar Field all weekend against Auburn.

Arts Fest: Weekend of July 14 – 16
If there’s one single weekend you want to make it to town for, it’s this one. The Central PA Festival of the Arts (or “Arts Fest” as it is lovingly nicknamed) makes for an entire weekend of art displays, delicious food, live music, and so much more throughout the streets of downtown State College. It’s the kind of festive atmosphere that you have to see to believe! Just a few minutes down the road from State College, in the field of the PA Military Museum, Boalsburg’s People’s Choice Festival is just as wonderful and festive. Both festivals run from July 13 – 16, so there’s plenty of time to experience both!

State College Brew Expo: Weekend of August 11 – 13
This Saturday’s motto is “Good Beer, Good Music, Great Cause!” with the 2017 State College Brew Expo at Tussey Mountain. In its 19th year, the event celebrates some of the best of our area’s craft beers, and proceeds benefit Coaches vs. Cancer. The Bellefonte Arts and Crafts Festival also takes place this weekend, on Friday and Saturday in Talleyrand Park.
