Perfect Picnic Spots in Happy Valley

Lunch in the summer is so much better outside. Instead of spending money at an outdoor vendor, pack a basket and blanket and head to some of these priceless picnic spots all located near Happy Valley.

Spring Creek Park
This park is a staple in State College. The park surrounds a beautiful creek with a traditional covered bridge; along the creek are perfect grassy areas and benches. In addition, there are three picnic pavilions, volleyball courts, basketball courts, walking paths, tennis courts, and a baseball diamond.

The Arboretum
There's so much beauty at the Penn State Arboretum and many places to set up a picnic as well. There's the beautiful lily pond, fountain, plenty of gardens and flowers and lots of grassy areas to spread out a blanket and enjoy lunch. There are also tons of benches and tables as well; the back side of the Arboretum even has a gorgeous view of the valley and Central PA mountains.

Talleyrand Park
This spot in historic downtown Bellefonte is perfect for a picnic. The gazebo and park overlooking the waterfront gives off the authentic Bellefonte feel that will make any picnic memorable.
Whipple Dam
This lake is perfect for a picnic; the sandy shore and grass areas make for a good spot, but Whipple Dam also has picnic areas with pavilions and tables to help create the best set up. You could have an entire cookout or barbeque here and play some beach volleyball after you eat.
