Best Happy Valley Camping Spots

The beautiful nature surrounding our cozy Happy Valley is calling and this summer is the perfect time to take advantage of the great camping sites and woods that Central PA provides us with by going on a camping trip. Here are some of the best places to plan your outing, just within a short drive of State College.

Raystown Lake
This reservoir in Huntington has campground areas for both tents and RVs, as well as cabins and lodges for an overnight stay. There is so much to do here, like boating, fishing, hiking, biking, and just enjoying the outdoors. 

Bald Eagle State Park
More than 5,900 acres of land makes up Bald Eagle State Park, including the huge lake, Bald Eagle Mountain, wetlands, forests, and fields. This broad state park has two campground sites available, as well as the Nature Inn to meet all of your overnight and camping needs.There's plenty to do. Swim at the sand and turf beach that also has a snack bar; picnic at the many picnic areas; visit the Foster Joseph Sayers Reservoir; or go boating, hiking or fishing. 

Hemlock Acres Campground 
Located in Coburn, this campsite is on the edge of Bald Eagle State Park and allows for tent camping, RVs and trailers, or you can stay at a rustic cabin. The campground has a pool you can enjoy, in addition to proximity to the wilderness where you can hike, fish or sightsee. Kids will also love the playground and game room. This site will make for a camping outing the whole family will appreciate. 

Gram and Pops Fort Bellefonte Campground
Located in the heart of Central PA, Gram and Pops has 18 RV hookups as well as cabins for rent, and tent sites. It is also in the middle of some of PA’s best fishing streams, like Fisherman’s Paradise, Spring Creek, Big Fishing Creek, Slate Run, and many more. The campground will not only make for a great camping trip, but includes amenities like miniature golf, a water lagoon, trails, a horseshoe pit, and sports. It's also pet-friendly!
