We Are Weekend is finally here! Are you?

Although you never really need an excuse to visit Happy Valley, this weekend’s highly anticipated celebration is the perfect reason to make your way back.
We Are Weekend, a premier summer event hosted by the Penn State Alumni Association, is here to help you reunite with old classmates, share the joy of Penn State with your family and reminisce on your time as a Nittany Lion. With countless activities scheduled for June 1–3, the weekend will give you a backstage pass to all things blue and white.
To help you make the most of your time at Penn State, we’ve curated some weekend plans for your family, friends and you.
For The Family
The Alumni Association planned several family-friendly events if you are bringing your little lions to State College this weekend. Enjoy the summer sun during an Arboretum tour Friday morning or afternoon. After, head to the home of the Nittany Lions football team for a tour of Beaver Stadium. On the tour, you will see the players’ locker room, the President’s Suite and the stadium field.
From 9 a.m.–4 p.m. Saturday, a professional photographer will be stationed at the Nittany Lion Shrine to take complimentary photos. Pose with your family and the beloved mascot to commemorate your weekend of Penn State family fun!
Of course, you can’t bring your children to Happy Valley and not eat Berkey Creamery ice cream. So, cool off on Saturday afternoon at an ice cream social with fellow alumni and friends. If the delicious ice cream doesn’t spoil your dinner, take your family to one of your favorite restaurants downtown or click here for some suggestions.
Spend your night under the stars during an outdoor screening of “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” at the Arboretum. Even though the Arboretum may not exactly be a galaxy far, far away, this experience is surely one of a kind!
For The Friends
No matter when you graduated from Penn State, your college friends hold a special place in your heart. We Are Weekend gives you the opportunity to solidify your friendships, reconnect with old peers and make new memories on the campus you once called home.
Gather your friends and head to Federal Taphouse on Beaver Avenue Friday night for a Penn State Paint Nite. While you sip on your favorite beverage and munch on free appetizers, instructors will guide you in creating a Penn State-themed masterpiece.
If you are itching to get back into a classroom consider attending an Alumni Cooking Class in the Nutrition and Foods Teaching Lab. While the event won’t put you in a traditional classroom setting, you will get to learn some new techniques and eat food, too! Led by Penn State Instructor Jennifer Meengs, you will prepare several different dishes, then sit down and enjoy them all.
After you feast, throw on your dancing shoes and head to the Nittany Lion Inn for the Dueling Lions Piano Bar. With a cash bar available, get ready to dance the night away during this exciting musical experience.
If you are an alumni from the College of Engineering, College of Education, College of Health and Human Development, Smeal College of Business, College of Arts and Architecture or NROTC, you are invited to attend your college’s respective luncheons and receptions throughout the weekend.
Anyone can participate in reunion weekend now, but it used to be solely for those celebrating their 50th college graduation anniversary. To honor the Class of 1968, there will be a Pioneer Reception Induction and Dinner on Friday night as well as a 1968 Class Reception and Dinner on Saturday night.
Close out the weekend at the Farewell Breakfast on Sunday morning and feel free to bring your favorite student memorabilia. Share stories of your university days and reflect on your memories with friends before you travel home.
Of course, this 3-day weekend offers a lot more than we mentioned above. For a full list of events, click here.
The reunion of the year is just one day away so don’t wait to register. We can’t wait to welcome you back to Happy Valley for an exciting, nostalgic and eventful weekend!
