Spikes to host 2018 NYPL All-Star Game

It just wouldn’t be a summer in Happy Valley without a huge event.

This summer, Beaver Stadium played host to the Happy Valley Jam, an all-day country concert. The event was was a big success.

In 2018, the big event will come in the form of an All-Star Game. It was recently announced that the State College Spikes will host the 2018 New York-Penn League All-Star Game, which will be played at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.

The Spikes first played host to the game in 2009.

“We are proud to once again host the NYPL All-Star Game and showcase the best of what Central PA has to offer," said Spikes’ general manager Scott Walker. "We are looking forward to working together with all of the members of our Central PA community to put together an extravaganza that will bring people from across our region and the baseball world together for a one-of-a-kind experience."

The announcement was made by the New York-Penn League on Tuesday during the 2017 NYPL All-Star Game at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium in Troy, NY.

Although nothing official has been announced, there are expected to be several fan-friendly events during the All-Star festivities.

Ticket information for the game has not been released.
