A special holiday version of Pop Up Ave set for Dec. 9
STATE COLLEGE – Organizers of Pop Up Ave recently announced they will host a market just in time for the holiday shopping season. The flea market hosts the hippest handmade and vintage vendors from around the state, a variety of food vendors and live music.
“Bundling up and strolling through the winter markets in Germany is something I looked forward to every year,” said co-founder Brad Groznik, who went to high school in Dusseldorf, Germany. “I’d love to create an experience like that in State College and hosting a Pop Up Ave holiday market is a first step.”
The free event will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9 on Fraser Street between College and Beaver Avenues in Downtown State College. In September, Pop Up Ave brought about 3,000 residents and students downtown.
The market is moving to Fraser Street from its regular spot in the Garner Street Parking Lot to offer indoor spaces for vendors within The Makery. Event organizers are also excited to utilize the new MLK Plaza which opened in August. The street will be closed from the plaza north to College Avenue so attendees can access the parking garage on Fraser Street from Beaver Avenue.
Brad and his wife Andrea co-founded Pop Up Ave in 2016 upon returning to State College after living in New York City where fleas like this regularly populate community calendars.
