Save the date! Arts Fest is back

Mark your calendars! The 52nd Annual Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts will be held July 12–15, 2018. Whether you live in Centre County or miles away, start planning your visit to Happy Valley for one of the most exciting weekends of the year.

The annual festival brings over 300 artists from across the country to the heart of Pennsylvania each year. Peruse through the streets of downtown State College and look for a unique gift for a friend or for yourself. From baskets, to ceramics, from jewelry to photography and paintings to so much more, you are sure to find a treasure that you love at the sidewalk sale and exhibition.

When you aren’t browsing through the different vendor booths, you can enjoy several free performances at various outdoor locations throughout the weekend. Whether you are in the mood to relax to some jazz music or dance along with a rock band, you are sure to find a performance that suits you.

Among the vendors and the musical acts, you’ll find dozens of food vendors ready to curb your appetite. Feast on a corn dog, salad or chicken lo mein and satisfy your sweet tooth with homemade strudel or some ice cream from the Creamery. Looking for a sit down meal? Check out some of Happy Valley’s best offerings here!

When the sun sets and the festival fun simmers down each night, you’ll want to stay somewhere downtown so you don’t have to miss any of the action the next day. The Atherton Hotel, Day’s Inn and Hyatt Place are all steps away from the festival, allowing you to wake up each morning in the middle of the excitement.

But if you want a break from the thrill of the weekend each night, there are several lodging options a few minutes drive away. Book a room at the Nittany Lion Inn, Hampton Inn & Suites or the Courtyard by Marriott, to see more of what State College has to offer.

Are you a Penn State alumnus? Celebrate the festival with fellow graduates during the Penn State Alumni Association’s Arts Festival Alumni Weekend. Relive your dormitory days by spending the night in North Halls and experience the weekend like never before with a “Behind the Scenes” tour hosted by festival staff and volunteers.

For 52 years, State College has been a haven for fine craftsmen and art lovers alike. Pack your bags, gather the family and join in on the arts fest fun in just a few short weeks!
