Plan the Best Valentine's Day Date Ever

It's not easy to come up with ideas for Valentine's Day plans year after year, let alone to keep them original and fun. This year, we hope our cheat sheet to the best date ideas can help with that.

Get Adventurous

If you’ve been through the same old, same old more times than you can count, don’t waste another year on it. Tussey Mountain is not only a guaranteed memorable date, but also a plain and simple great time, no matter if you’re a total beginner or a seasoned skier. Choose between skiing, snowboarding or tubing, then follow it up with dinner and drinks at Edges Pub in the Lodge—complete with live music on weekends!

Some other outside-the-box ideas are ice skating at Pegula Ice Arena, making a work of art at 2000˚ Degrees Pottery, and bowling at everyone’s favorite alley, Northland Bowl. Or for serious adventure, take your date to the air with a hot air balloon ride form The Sky’s The Limit Ballooning, who offers year-round rides!

A Luxury Escape

The Nittany Lion Inn and The Penn Stater Hotel both offer an amazing Couples Escape Package, which includes champagne and chocolates waiting for you in a luxurious room or suite, a candlelit dinner, and a delicious breakfast delivered to your room the next morning. What more could you ask for? Plus, they’ll help you build your own unique package with an added show or special amenities, upon request.

Carnegie Inn and Spa offers up several getaway packages, two of them tailored more for the spa lovers and another for the ultimate foodie couple, so be sure to check them all out. Whichever you choose, you won't be disappointed.

Dessert

Decadent desserts are a staple of any good Valentine’s Day. Mount Nittany Winery’s Valentine’s Day Wine and Chocolate Pairing is everything you need all in one: award-winning wines and delicious Asher’s Chocolates. (Last year’s sold out, so don’t delay in making your reservation!)

You can never go wrong with a Berkey Creamery date, so don’t let the cold weather deter you (but if it does, they make a mean cup of coffee to balance it out). Or, stop into Dolce Vita Desserts in Lemont for some of their gourmet V-Day specialties, like chocolate dipped strawberries and cake truffles.
