Fair and festival season kickoff

Happy Valley has one of the best festival seasons around, hands down, and when there isn't a festival, there’s always another exciting event waiting for you and your family. With so many upcoming fairs, festivals and shows, it can be hard to keep track! Thankfully, Happy Valley has the insider details on all the weekend events you won’t want to miss!

We Are Weekend: June 1–3

It's finally time for one of the most anticipated events of the season: We Are Weekend. The Penn State Alumni Association hosts and invites all Penn State alumni and their families to register for a fun-packed weekend. Get the inside scoop on Beaver Stadium, Pegula Ice Arena, The Arboretum and Pattee-Paterno library before heading out to watch "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" under the night sky at the Arboretum, just to name a few of the scheduled activities. Nittany Antique Machinery Show: June 1–3

Stop by Penn's Cave for the Nittany Antique Machinery Show. The flea market hosts more than 700 vendors so you can find the perfect antique treasure. The show will also feature demonstrations, a consignment auction and tractor pullsBut before you hit the market and demonstrations, check out the real stars of the show: the 800-plus tractors and campers on display!

Summer Sounds in the Gazebo: June 3

For music lovers, Bellefonte is the place to be this summer. The first night of Summer Sounds in the Gazebo kicks off June 3. Head to Talleyrand Park to catch the newest iteration of the nine-show series, started in 1981. The shows are one hour and feature styles from folk to rock, pop to jazz. There's a little something for everyone, so grab your lawn chairs and picnic blankets and head on over.

69th Annual Bellefonte Children's Fair: June 2

This fun-filled annual delight, held at the intersection of Curtin and Armor streets, is back again for a day that's all about the kids. This one-day event will feature food, games, activities and entertainment for kids of all ages. The fair also helps raise money to maintain Bellefonte's beautiful parks. Ice Cream Fest

Find your favorite flavor on Allen Street at this year's Ice Cream Fest. Not only is it an event featuring the best ice cream in Happy Valley, it’s also designed to spark your child's imagination, delight the senses and awaken the scientist in us all. Kids can play Balloon Twister and explore chemistry with Liquid Nitrogen Brownies, all while enjoying some live music. Ice cream vendors include Gallikers, Vale Wood Farms, Berkey Creamery, Myer Dairy and Happy Buns.
