Beat the Heat with Nearby Swim Spots This Summer

Beat the heat this summer by hitting the pools and local swimming spots! Happy Valley has plenty of places for you to cool off on a relaxing summer day.

Bald Eagle State Park

This state park  has the perfect beach for swimming this summer. With a 12,000-foot-long sand and turf beach, as well as playgrounds and a snack bar, a day swimming here will be fun for the whole family. It’s only a 30-minute drive from State College, and you can pack a picnic to enjoy while embracing the warm weather and taking in the views.

Hawk Falls

Hiking is made all the more fun with Hawk Falls’ signature water fall, which flows into a small swimming hole. Located in Hickory Run State Park, Hawk Falls is the perfect hidden gem, whether you want to just sightsee or jump right in for a swim.

Welch and Park Forest Pools

These local pools are both great for the kids and relaxing for the parents. Both are equipped with water slides, splash playgrounds and other features kids will love. There is plenty of lounging areas for parents as well.

Stony Fork Creek

Just outside of Wellsboro, PA, is Stony Fork Creek, and hidden within these woods is the prime jewel: a small swimming hole, surrounded by rock ledges, with the falls pouring into it. Visitors jump off the rock ledges, swim in the water and even slide down the falls. Take a hike through beautiful central PA and then cool off in some refreshing mountain water.
