Wine, Food and Friends: Destination Dining with Hometown Comfort At The Nittany Lion Inn and Penn Stater Hotels
The Nittany Lion Inn, located on campus, is Happy Valley's premier hotel experience, where comfort and quality meet Penn State tradition. They feature The Dining Room, a fine dining restaurant that turns any meal into a special occasion, and Whiskers, a casual, pub-style eatery. Already known for their themed dinners and decadent buffets, The Nittany Lion Inn is making a name for itself with its locally inspired menu, as well as vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options that are just as delicious as they are sustainable. It's part of their 'grand experiment in local food' — using only products that are made in-house or produced by neighbors. They also source meat from local, organically certified farms to enhance the farm-to-table experience.
Starting on May 27 and continuing (weather permitting) through Labor Day, spend your Friday nights at PA on the Patio at The Nittany Lion Inn. It's a culinary experience centered on a summertime favorite — grilling. Featuring a full tapas menu and the best in Pennsylvania micro brews, PA on the Patio will be the ideal after-work meet-up in town. Beginning at 5:30, enjoy delicious all-you-care-to-eat tapas prepared on the wood-fired grill. Relax with friends and a local craft brew or two.
Every other month, The Nittany Lion Inn hosts a Tastes of the World wine pairing dinner. Each dinner features a country or region and its wines, and pairs them with an expertly prepared menu of that region's finest dishes. The dinners are equal parts delicious and educational, and diners learn about the wines, where they come from and how they are made. They are the perfectly suited for both beginner wine enthusiasts and aficionados.

The Inn proudly offers over 500 different bottles of wine, with 138 of these offerings priced below $50. There is a price point for everyone, from the Astica Malbec of Argentina to the premium 2009 Chateau Palmer of Marguax, France.
Why such an expansive list? There are two reasons. The Inn greets guests from all over the county, state, country and world with a wide array of knowledge and taste that they have come to expect. Secondly, each wine carries a story unique to its region of origin. Have you enjoyed a vacation in Alsace, Willamette, The Cape or other wine regions? Let the list transport you back to a memorable destination. Maybe you are just beginning your journey through the wines of the world; their wine list can help you set your course and cultivate your passion. When you drink wine, you drink the world — you drink life!
Located in Innovation Park, The Penn Stater offers top-notch amenities and beautifully appointed rooms. Their two onsite restaurants are perfect destinations for both lunch and dinner.
