Enjoy the beautiful fall foliage as you travel on the West Branch Susquehanna River Byway and the Elk Scenic Byway through the Quehanna Wilds. As you tour through the wilds you learn that there is something for everyone. The Elk Country Visitors Center is the premier location in the Northeastern United States for seeing and experiencing elk in a natural setting. The visitor’s center was designed to provide live, year-round opportunities to see and hear these amazing animals…. from trails, viewing areas and from their indoor Great Room. You can enrich your visit by exploring an array of educational exhibits, multimedia experiences and hand-on learning opportunities. There is something for everyone…. children, families, and visitors of all kinds. And of course, just beyond the Visitor Center lies the Pennsylvania Wilds with over two million acres of rivers, forests, towns, and historical sites. Then enjoy dinner in the PA Wilds.

Bilger’s Rock Tour - Rocks Galore!
Please wear comfortable shoes and attire.
Located near Grampian, Pennsylvania in Bloom Township, the geological formations known as Bilger’s Rocks is a breathtaking scenic wonder featuring caves, cliffs, passageways, climbing routes, and other unusual features estimated to be between 316-320 million years old. Formed in 1988 by a group of local citizens to both preserve and promote the area, the Association hosts events that feature a variety of entertainment and historical education activities including Halloween Hayrides, Civil War reenactments, Bluegrass festivals, nature studies, guided tours, family reunions, weddings, and children’s days. You will not want to miss these amazing sandstone formations. 

You must check out the “100 Day King’’, Roland Welker trail (Season 7’s History Channel’s reality show Alone WATCH NOW ON HULU!).  Also stop by the replica of “Rock House’’ that was built to match the one Roland built for his shelter during the 100-day challenge in the Canadian Arctic. After exploring and climbing through all these rocks you will enjoy a beautiful fall scenic view while tasting wine at one of our local wineries, Starr Hill Vineyard & Winery. After visiting the winery we will travel to downtown Clearfield where you will have the opportunity to enjoy a delicious lunch along the riverwalk at Dented Keg.

Curwensville Lake
Enjoy a little bit of eveything at beautiful Curwensville Lake.  This manmade lake is one of the county’s hidden treasures.  It’s banks are decorated with foilage that is sure to impress any viewer throughout the seasons.  There are a few bald eagles that call this area home and plenty of additional activity on the property to keep you entertained for days.  Camping, swimming, biking, hiking, boating, and fishing are just a few of the activities available for any age at Curwensville Lake.

Grice Community Museum
You will be amazed while exploring through over 70 antique and classic autos’ as well as over 700 trophy game mounts of animals from around the world. You will learn the story of Scoot & Janet Grice and the historical highlights of their business and community contributions.

Clearfield County Historical Society
Then tour through the Clearfield County Historical Society. Visit the museum and Carriage House and view a variety of artifacts that chronicle the settlement and development of the Clearfield Area. Visit the Alexander Research Center, a Genealogy Research Center, enabling you to find names, dates and events of those who passed through Clearfield County.

Lunch at Denny's Beer Barrel Pub
After all of this exploring you will need to get your bellies filled at the home of the World’s Largest Burger Challenge restaurant, Denny’s Beer Barrel Pub. Are you brave enough to try the challenge and see if you can eat a 2lb burger?!
