While everyone in Happy Valley is hopeful that the Penn State Nittany Lions will be playing important football games in December and January this winter, there will also lots of exciting action on the hardwood, on the ice and on the mats.

Plan a "Yes" Day with Local Spa Options

While there are amazing sights to take in and places to visit throughout the year, Happy Valley's unique charm and international fame come to life when the weather starts to cool down. Take a minute (or a whole day) to yourself. Invest in your wellness. You won't regret it.

We've put together a list of our favorite ways to recharge and refresh in Happy Valley. Make plans for a 'yes' day for yourself, or give the gift of rest to someone you love.

We found the perfect bottle for your holiday party

For many years, my Thanksgivings were spent in Buckeye territory. We didn't talk football … not over dinner at least … but Penn State was represented every year by my favorite wine. If you are like me and are venturing outside of Happy Valley this fall, take a little bit of Central Pennsylvania along with you in the form of some of our delicious, inventive wines and ciders.

Revealing 2018's Homecoming logo

The Blue White game is one of the most highly anticipated events of the spring. Fans, friends and alumni gathered together for a day of tailgates and an eager return to Beaver Stadium to watch a classic Penn State football game. The weather was perfect as the Homecoming Executive Committee walked onto the field at halftime to reveal the logo to the crowd of 71,000. They lined up in front of the student section and dropped the banner revealing the logo.

Traditionally, the new school year begins with the annual “Be A Part From The Start” event for the freshmen. These newcomers gather together from all colleges and pour into recreation hall to learn a little more about the place we call “Happy Valley.”

Homecoming Week beyond the parade

You've had your tickets, your posse and your accommodations figured out a long time ago. It's Homecoming weekend, after all. It only comes once a year. So while you're here, why not make it the best Happy Valley weekend that it can be? Because in addition to the full raft of official Homecoming fun, the area is full of festivals, giveaways, concerts … and fun.

Homecoming meets sustainability

HOPE is Penn State Homecoming's recycling effort in which the competing organizations can bring in 30-gallon aluminum cans for points throughout the year. Through HOPE they look to provide alternative waste disposal. HOPE has been one of the most direct ways of implementing sustainability with organizations, and helps to ensure as much waste as possible is diverted from landfills while helping to create sustainable habits in our community organizations.
