First Night State College

First Night State College is well known for its outstanding displays of carved ice; ice-carvers in action; horse-drawn carriage rides; musical and theatrical performances in downtown theaters, churches and the municipal building; the 5K Resolution Run; and art, craft, and performance workshops for kids and adults.

A grand procession with life-size puppets, ice skating at Pegula Arena, and indoor and outdoor resolutions sculptures and activities are popular elements of the First Night State College tradition. Plus, visit with some reindeer this year!

The event provides an alcohol-free alternative New Year's Eve celebration for the young and young-at-heart, creating a fun and uplifting atmosphere in downtown State College to usher in the new year.
