Planning Your “We Are” Weekend

No need to thank us, because you are so welcome — and you are especially welcome to join Happy Valley from May 31 to June 2 for the annual We Are Weekend.

These fun-filled days are overflowing with can’t-miss events, including a special recognition of the class of 1969, tours of Beaver Stadium and the new School of Music recital hall, interactive stations featuring new research and professional photo opportunities with our beloved Nittany Lion Shrine.

But where should you eat, stay and play during the in-between memories? Don’t worry — we’ve got you covered!

1. Jam out to the Happy Valley Music Fest

You might want to sit down for this one. The We Are Weekend is the same weekend as the Happy Valley Music Fest. National, regional and local artists from Eilen Jewell to Bonerama to Kristi Jean & Her Ne’er-Do-Wells are taking center stage downtown from May 31 to June 1 and get ready to rock!

2. Stay at the Hublersburg Inn

Cooped up in Howard, Pennsylvania, the Hublersburg Inn is just waiting to make you wish the weekend didn’t end. The charming inn offers both good food and good music, inviting acoustic groups to play as you enjoy dinner. Some of the inn’s acclaimed dishes include the cheese steak and wings, as well as superb purchases from nearby Amish farms, like the Baked Camembert.

3. Delight in Brothers Pizza & Italian Restaurant

If you’re looking “for a touch of Sicily” while celebrating who “We Are,” be sure to check out Brothers Pizza. Their scrumptious Stromboli; variety of pizza, like the Philly Steak and White Pizza; and delicious pasta choices, like the baked ziti or penne with vodka sauce, will have you raving.

4. Or Stay at the Wyndham Garden

Wind down in the restful haven of Wyndham Garden this We Are Weekend. Known to be a “restful place between home and whatever’s next,” this corner of Happy Valley offers a 15% discount for those who book ahead! They’re located minutes away from downtown State College and Penn State University, so if convenience is your priority, Wyndham Garden has your back!

5. Visit the Pennsylvania Military Museum

Seeking hidden gems? Be sure to visit the Pennsylvania Military Museum. The ambiance of history through the display of tanks, arrangement of monuments and exhibitions, as well as the lovely waterfall outside, are more than worth your while. Museum hours are 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. both Friday and Saturday and 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. on Sunday.
