Penn State Men's Lacrosse Wins #1 Overall Seed

By Natasha Schlaffer

The Penn State Men’s Lacrosse team, after winning their first Big Ten Championship last Saturday, is now bound for the NCAA Tournament after being awarded No. 1 overall seed!

The announcement unsurprisingly comes on the heels of the team’s incredibly impressive season, in which they snagged the No. 1 ranking in the nation. The squad was able to secure all but one win, and with players like Grant Ament— who now holds the NCAA record for single season assists— and Mac O’Keefe— the top scorer in PSU lacrosse history— leading the pride, fans are hopeful that Penn State may be well on their way to earning their first NCAA title.

The Nittany Lions are set to play the winner of the Marist-UMBC game, which is set for Wednesday, May 8. Penn State plays the first round match on Sunday, May 12 at 12:00 pm in Panzer Stadium.

The winner of the first round match will go on to play the winner of the Loyola-Syracuse game on May 19 in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, it may even be possible for Penn State to redeem itself against last year’s champions: Yale, the only team they lost to on the path to their Big Ten win. You can see all of the brackets here.
