Make a Weekend of the Travis Scott Concert

Weekends seem to be Happy Valley’s specialty: there are restaurants, events, venues and landmarks galore to help keep us lions entertained.

The Bryce Jordan Center, in particular, brings in acts from all over the country whether it be Elton John, Kevin Hart, The Weekend, you name it.

An upcoming concert on February 26 will welcome rapper, songwriter and record producer, Travis Scott, to the stage. The show falls on a Tuesday, so why not come by early and make a long weekend of the event and take advantage of everything Happy Valley has to offer.

1. Jazz in the Attic Presents: Urban Fusion

Come on down to Happy Valley on Friday, February 22 and enter the doors of the State Theatre. Make your way up to the attic by 8 p.m. and lose yourself in a world of soulful arrangements. Urban Fusion specializes in blending jazz, funk, blues and Latin from compositions by a diverse range of artists including BB King, Grover Washington, Jr and Billy Strayhorn and even Santana. They have performed for clubs, festivals and colleges across Pennsylvania, but now it’s Happy Valley’s turn to get their jazz hands on!

2. Winter Soups and Salads Sampling

Tait Fruit Farms is located just seven miles east of State College, but the people there bring so much joy to their customers and community, it’s hard not to see them as a gem of Happy Valley. Eight acres of certified fruits and vegetables, as well as greenhouse productions, this farm hosts monthly events to infuse organic foods into our lives. From 2 p.m.–4 p.m., on February 23, Tait Fruit Farms is inviting anyone and everyone with a passion for green goods to their Winter Soups and Salads sampling. Come on out to hear which seasonal ingredients and easy recipes make for delicious soups and hearty salads!

3. Webster’s Bookstore & Café Vegan Brunch

Every Sunday, the town’s beloved bookstore hosts a vegan brunch rife with local artisan products as well as organic, fair-trade coffee. The buffet lasts from 10 a.m.–2 p.m., so you have plenty of time to stop by on February 24 and try delicious bagels, wraps, salads, breakfast burritos and farm fresh, free range eggs.

4. State of the Story and Learning to Live: Tears & Laughter Through Loss

There is nothing more touching than finding happiness, laughter and positivity in times of hardship. Hearing stories of perseverance and optimism can be so wholesome and necessary that when special events like “Tears & Laughter Through Loss” come to the community, it’s important to reach back! The State Theatre is hosting the event on February 25, starting at 6:30 p.m., thanks to State of the Story, a storytelling and music performance series that has a different theme every season. This particular series will touch your heart and relate to our spirit—all good things!

Along with special guest, Sheck Wes, Travis Scott will hit the stage with his fiery vocals and infectious spirit on February 26 at the Bryce Jordan Center. His off-the-wall live shows leave audiences with a memory to last a lifetime, with Billboard writing them off as “essential [parts] to his career.” Tickets start at $49.95 and are on sale now on TicketMaster. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. Don’t just “wish you were here”—buy your tickets now and join the ride of a lifetime!
