A Festive Father’s Day: Your 2019 Guide

Father’s Day is right around the corner, and it’s time to start planning the day your dad deserves...Happy Valley style! Whether your dad likes spending time outdoors, watching a game or enjoying some craft beers, we’re here to help you plan the perfect celebration right here in State College.

Dine with Dad

Start the day off with some classic waffles, pancakes or eggs at the Original Waffle Shop. A town favorite for over forty years, the Waffle Shop is sure to energize you for an action-packed afternoon. Don’t forget to get there early — it’s a popular place!

If buffets are more your dad’s style and you’d like to add some music to your brunch, check out Websters’ Sunday brunch! Websters offers delicious vegan dishes like roasted potatoes, tofu scramble and vegan pancakes. Brunch is $18 and includes coffee and a drink of choice. After a leisurely brunch, stick around for the music of Richard Sleigh —guitarist and harmonica master — at noon.

For dinner and drinks, take your dad out to another fan favorite: Otto’s. Enjoy your favorite draft beers, beer battered fries and half-price pizzas while you watch magician and comedian Ben Salinas.

For State College’s best burger and fries, visit The Field. With a variety of craft beers and fresh, locally sourced ingredients, the Field is an exciting and delicious close to your Father’s Day festivities.

Adventures and Activities

If your dad is a car junkie, there’s no better place than the 30th annual Bellefonte cruise! From June 14–16, enjoy a classic car parade and a show that features cars, trucks and motorcycles. After the car show, enjoy some music featuring rock band Frackwater Jack.

While the State College Spikes are playing an away game on Father’s Day, start your celebration early and watch them play the Crosscutters (7:00 pm) for opening night 2019. Enjoy $1 draft beers from 5:00–6:00 p.m. and enter to win a new Kia! Be sure to stick around after the game for a magnificent fireworks show. Get your tickets here.
