Calling All Children: Celebrating Mother’s Day the Right Way

We wouldn’t be who we are without our mothers — they love us when the chips are down and when they are stacked evenly, shining on the shelf. They are the teachers outside the classroom, the light even the sun can’t beat, and they are worthy of the best Mother’s Day ever.

Get to planning the perfect Mother’s Day right here in Happy Valley with our list of our favorite ways to treat our moms!

1. Planting Window Boxes and Urns at Tait Fruit Farms

Make a weekend of Mother’s Day by taking advantage of special events centered on seasonal fun offered by Trait Fruit Farms on May 11, from 2 – 4 p.m. Welcome spring with your mother by learning about creating stunning window boxes and urns from Gretchen Staff, a floral artisan overflowing with tips on weaving flower magic.

2. The Next Stage Theatre Company presents: Voices

The State Theatre is hosting Voices, a play by Susan Griffin, in the attic of the State Theatre both Saturday and Sunday. The play begins at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and 3 p.m. on Sunday, sharing the story of five strangers, each trying to find their own voice. In the process, they find that, although each voice is special, each leads to one story: their story.
