C3 Sports Indoor Complex Offers a Versatile and Community-Focused Venue
By Christen Bell
You can find one State College’s newest, family-friendly venues at 200 Ellis Place! C3 Sports Indoor Complex recently completed a 40,000+ square foot addition to their space, making it a perfect venue for sports, birthday parties and more. The dome addition opened in March 2019 after nearly a year in the making. The venue has already seen great community support and usage, and C3 Sports hopes to encourage much more.
They currently host many different sports groups throughout the week, and they have regularly scheduled events perfect for the kids, such as Hoop Stars and Soccer Shots. Their open space is just what you need for organized sports for young and old alike.
“We typically have at least a 1,000 kids come through our doors on a weekly basis. We plan to grow more in-house programming with partnerships we're building with strong, community organizations. We also plan to expand our daytime offerings, as well, for the stay-at-home parent with a child or a retiree who may want to try their hand in pickleball in our gymnasium,” Kader says.
Though many of the activities at C3 Sports are currently regularly scheduled events, they plan to expand their offerings for drop-in activities to accommodate even more community needs. They host an open bounce-house-day two Saturdays a month that is perfect for families with children looking for a Saturday activity. If you’re a parent to a rambunctious little, you can’t miss these events! You can sit back and relax, and your child can bounce out all their extra energy.
“We continue to strive and develop new ways to reach our community and provide a great indoor space for families. We are open to suggestions and want to serve our local community!” Kader says.
Planning your child’s next birthday party at C3 Sports is bound to be a huge hit! Parties are typically two hours long with an hour and a half devoted to bounce house play and 30 minutes for pizza, cake and celebration of your birthday boy or girl. The pizza, drinks and paper products are provided for each party. Parties can be private or semi-private, and there are packages to choose from that range in price from $150 to $500, giving options for a variety of price ranges. You can also rent the space for sports during your party if you have older children. C3 Sports can set up soccer, basketball and football activities to entertain youth of all ages!
C3 Sports has always been a nonprofit entity within Christ Community Church. It started with 12,000 square feet of gym space, but once they started booking solidly for three to four years, seven days a week in the winter season, the expansion was a natural next step. It was a risk for them to take on such an extensive project, but C3 Sports Operations Manager Sean Kader stresses the importance of a community focus behind the addition.
“We’ve always been a group that wants to serve our local community,” Kader says.
Another big reason for the C3 Sports Indoor Complex expansion was to have the capacity to cater to larger events that will benefit both the community and the local economy. Weekends are being targeted to host large regional events that will bring people into State College. One large event already took place and achieved exactly that. The Middle School State Basketball Championships took place on their opening weekend and brought PSU football weekend traffic to the local hotels and restaurants, bringing a solid boost to your favorite local businesses. Kader was pleased to hear from local hotels and restaurants indicating the substantial traffic the event brought them.
“We want to really impact our community on these weekends that can really help our local economy,” Kader says.
Pricing for the venue is established at or around the national average in order to keep the community-focus and outreach perspective that the organization started with.
