Down the stretch: Key games, matches for Lions
UNIVERSITY PARK – Sure, the temperatures are frigid, but things are heating up in Happy Valley!
Over the course of the next month, the Penn State men’s basketball, women's basketball, ice hockey and wrestling have some big games (and meets) on the horizon. Here’s what you need to know if you’re planning to check them out up close and personal.
The Penn State men’s basketball team continues to make its push for the postseason. As the red-hot Nittany Lions come down the stretch, they have just two home games remaining. A re-match with Ohio State will take place on Thursday, Feb. 15. The regular season wraps up against Michigan on Wednesday, Feb. 21.
Ohio State tips at 8 p.m. Michigan tips at 7 p.m. Tickets for both games are available at www.ticketmaster.com or the Bryce Jordan Center ticket window.
The Penn State women's basketball team will try to finish the season on a strong note as it heads to the Big Ten Tournament. At 7 p.m., on Wednesday, Feb. 14, the Lady Lions face Northwestern. They close out the home slate at 8 p.m. on Feb. 25 against Ohio State.
The Penn State men’s ice hockey team’s home schedule is winding down. The Nittany Lions have just two regular season home games remaining. The Lions will face the University of Minnesota on Friday, Feb. 23 and Saturday, Feb. 24. Friday’s game begins at 6:30 p.m., while Saturday’s starts at 7 p.m.

If you want to check out Cael Sanderson’s squad, time is running out. The Nittany Lions have just two home dual meets left.
This Saturday (Feb. 10), the Nittany Lions will face rival Iowa at the Bryce Jordan Center. There’s always one match at the BJC every season and it is a spectacle.
On Sunday, Feb. 18, the Nitany Lions face Buffalo. That match will take place at 2 p.m. at Rec Hall and is the final home match of the season.

If sports aren't your thing, there are a plethora of great shows on the lineup for the Center for the Performing Arts. Here are some of the highlights:
"Mr. Popper's Penguins" – At 4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 11, the popular children's book comes to life on stage at Eisenhower Auditorium. It is sure to delight children of all ages.
"Bill Charlap Trio" – Charlap, a jazz pianist, will bring his trio to Happy Valley for a 7:30 p.m. show at Schwab Auditorium. Charlap is considered one of the top jazzmen in the country.
"Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella" – The Classic story comes to life on the stage at Eisenhower Auditorium. You've never seen the popular children's tale told this way, so don't miss it! There will be two shows at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 20 and Wednesday, Feb. 21.
