Blue-White Game 2018: What you need to know

UNIVERSITY PARK – Before you know it, Blue-White Weekend will be here.

The annual rite of spring is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 21. However, if you’ve ever been to Happy Valley for Blue-White Weekend, you know it’s so much more than just a spring scrimmage. There’s tailgating, fun and of course, football.

Here’s what you can expect from this year’s Blue-White Game:

If you are a Penn State season ticket holder, you should have received a parking pass for the Blue-White Game with your tickets last season. Hopefully, you saved it! If not, parking for the game is just $20. Lots will open at 8 a.m. on gameday and will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Be sure to get there early. If the weather is nice, the close lots will fill up fast!

Admission is free, so there are no reserved seats for the game. Last year, an estimated 68,000 fans poured into Beaver Stadium on a sun-splashed afternoon.

If you can’t make it to the game, it will be televised by the Big Ten Network. Steve Jones and Jack Ham will call the game on the Penn State Sports Network. Locally, the game will air on 93.7 The Bus and ESPN Radio 1450 AM.

The Nittany Lions will look a little different, that’s for sure. But there will be some familiar faces, too. After all, the Lions return 13 starters – eight on offense, three on defense and two specialists. This is your first (and only) chance to see the team before the 2018 season opener against Appalachian State on Saturday, Sept. 1 in Beaver Stadium.

Once again, the Paterno Family Beaver Stadium Run for Special Olympics Pennsylvania will return for a ninth consecutive year. There will be a 5K run or a family-friendly 2-mile walk on Sunday, April 22. The run begins near the Bryce Jordan Center on Curtin Road, goes through campus and finishes with a run through the Beaver Stadium as runners finish at the 50-yard line.

More details on the 2018 Blue-White Game will be released in the coming weeks. Check back with for all the details.
