Another busy sports weekend in Happy Valley
It’s going to be a busy sports weekend in Happy Valley.
There are a plethora of events taking place, including Saturday night’s football game against Georgia State at Beaver Stadium. The game kicks off at 7:30 p.m. and will be televised by the Big Ten Network.
If you’re coming into town for the night game and looking for something to do, there are plenty of options.
Let’s take a closer look at what’s happening this weekend:
Thursday, Sept. 14: If you’re in town really early, swing by Jeffrey Field to check out the Penn State women’s soccer team. The Nittany Lions will be facing Northwestern. The Lions have dropped two of their last three games and are 4-2 on the young season.
The game kicks off at 7 p.m.
Friday, Sept. 15: There are a couple of Penn State sporting events on Friday night. At 5 p.m., the Penn State field hockey team plays host to Iowa at the field hockey complex. Then, at 7:30 p.m., the Penn State women’s volleyball team takes on Yale at Rec Hall.
If field hockey and volleyball aren’t your thing, there are a few high school football games in the area. State College Area High School visits Mifflin County (just a short drive from Centre County) and Bellefonte hosts Central Mountain at Rogers Stadium in Bellefonte. If you’ve never been to a high school game in Pennsylvania, it’s probably time you check out Friday Night Lights.
Saturday, Sept. 16: The sports day begins at 10 a.m., when the Penn State women’s volleyball team takes on Wake Forest at Rec Hall. That will be followed by Penn State-Ohio women’s volleyball at 4 p.m., giving plenty of time for those in attendance to get across campus for the football game.
The football game with 0-1 Georgia State kicks at 7:30 p.m. If you can’t make it to the game, it will be televised on the Big Ten Network. Chances are that your favorite watering hole will have the game on!
Sunday, Sept. 17: There are a couple of nice soccer matchups on Sunday. At 1 p.m., the Penn State women’s soccer team faces Illinois at Jeffrey Field. The men follow at 5, when they face Maryland.
