Homecoming Week 2017: What's going on?
Homecoming is here, and we have a lineup of all the events. Embrace the journey throughout the campus this week and roar with pride for all the things State has to offer!
Pollock Party, Monday, Nov. 6
Liven up your Monday with Pollock Party at the Pollock quad. Upperclassmen can return to their roots while freshmen can discover theirs. This carnival-style event will be fun for all with food and games galore. Come hang out with the Nittany Lion and enjoy a day full of fun!
Past to Present, Tuesday, Nov. 7
From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the HUB-Robeson Center, Penn State Homecoming will host an opportunity for all Nittany Lions to come together and learn about our Penn State past. A Penn State museum will be on display for all to see and learn the history of our dear alma mater. There will also be the chance to see performances, eat food and engage in activities throughout the day.
For The Glory Talent Show, Tuesday, Nov. 7
Student organizations involved in Penn State Homecoming have tried out and are ready to compete in the final round of the For The Glory Talent Show, where Penn Staters will incorporate their Homecoming themes into their talents. Come to Eisenhower Auditorium to see your favorite organizations perform and show them support! The talent show is open to everyone and tickets are free of charge. Tickets will be available the week prior at Eisenhower Auditorium, the Bryce Jordan Center and the Downtown Theatre Center.
Best of Penn State Carnival, Thursday, Nov. 9
A day full of fun awaits at the HUB-Robeson Center during the Best of Penn State Carnival. A carnival full of music, treats, games, inflatables and a live petting zoo is sure to liven up your week and get you excited about the weekend festivities. From 1-6 p.m., members of the student body and community will unite together to celebrate our Penn State family.
Ice Cream Social & Parade, Friday, Nov. 10
Alumni and students will gather together at the Hintz-Family Alumni Center on Friday to enjoy every true Penn Stater’s favorite treat: Berkey Creamery ice cream!
As the day progresses, students, alumni, faculty and members of the community will line up along College Avenue to watch the annual Homecoming Parade, the largest student-run parade in the nation. The parade will feature 2017 Grand Marshal John Urschel and Honorary Grand Marshal Scott Shirley. Organizations will put their banners and floats on display, which will be judged by esteemed members of the Penn State community. The 2017 Homecoming Courts will be honored, student groups will be featured and alumni will also have the chance to walk in the parade.
Tailgate Competition & Homecoming Game, Saturday, Nov. 11
The day has finally arrived! Penn State welcomes back alumni to cheer on the Nittany Lions as they face off against Rutgers University. This matchup is sure to be a great game, but that’s not all that’s planned for the day. Before the game, a tailgate competition will be held where contestants will be judged on creativity, pride, food and quality. The winners will be announced and will receive prizes before fans begin to enter the game. During halftime, the Homecoming Courts will be honored and the 2017 Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned.
