Nittany Lion Inn Receives Prestigious Wine Award

The Dining Room at The Nittany Lion became the first restaurant in the State College area—and only the 18th in the state—to earn a “Best Of” Award of Excellence by the internationally respected Wine Spectator magazine. Wine Spectator’s ranking system is considered to be the industry standard by which restaurants and vineyards mark their progress and exclusivity.

While The Dining Room has been on Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence list since 2002, this is the first year that they achieved the coveted “Best of” designation. The variety of the restaurant’s wine offerings were one of the factors that led to the designation, as The Dining Room regularly avails notable labels from California, France, and Italy.

This award is a crowning achievement for Sean Caviston, The Dining Room’s operations manager who recently became a certified sommelier with Court of Master Sommelier of North America. Caviston is credited with increasing the restaurant’s wine list while hosting education opportunities and dining experiences that introduce labels from around the world.

The 2016 Tastes of the World: A Wine Dinner Series will feature cuisine and wine from New Zealand. Diners will be introduced to the culture, food, and drink, from the Kiwi region. Reservations for the November 9 and 10 dinner are available by calling 814-865-8560.
