Weekend events: Luke Bryan, hockey returns

UNIVERSITY PARK – Another THON may be in the books, but there’s still plenty to do in Happy Valley.

While we are still a few weeks away from spring officially arriving, the snow is gone so it’s time to get out and see what Happy Valley has to offer. Here are some of our top choices for this weekend:


Luke Bryan – The award-winning country star brings his “What Makes You Country” Tour to Happy Valley for a 7:30 p.m. show at the Bryce Jordan Center. He will be joined by Kip Moore and The Cadillac Three. Ticket prices range from $39.75 to $95 and can be obtained at www.ticketmaster.com or the BJC box office.


Penn State men’s hockey vs. Minnesota – The Penn State men’s hockey team returns to Pegula Ice Arena for the final time this season for a two-game series with the Golden Gophers. Face-off is at 6:30 p.m. The game is sold out, but verified re-sale tickets are available at www.ticketmaster.com.

Penn State men’s volleyball vs. George Mason – The Penn State men’s volleyball team takes on George Mason at 7 p.m. at Rec Hall. Tickets are available at the Rec Hall box office.


Penn State sports – Love the Blue and White? Well Saturday is a perfect day to venture all over campus and check out everything Penn State has to offer. It all starts at noon with men’s lacrosse taking on Robert Morris, at 2 p.m. the women’s ice hockey team faces off with Lindenwood. At 3 p.m., the women’s lacrosse team faces Cornell. At 4 p.m., the women’s gymnastics squad faces George Washington, while the men’s gymnastics team takes on Minnesota. At 7 p.m., the men’s volleyball and men’s hockey teams are in action. Volleyball faces the University of Charleston, while hockey takes on Minnesota.

Penn State Philharmonic Orchestra – The Penn State Philharmonic Orchestra will perform at 7:30 p.m. at Eisenhower Auditorium. The first concert of the semester will feature works by Rimsky-Korsakov, Wagner, Webern and the concerto competition winner.


Penn State women’s basketball vs. Ohio State – The Penn State Lady Lions face the rival Buckeyes at noon at the Bryce Jordan Center. It’s Senior Day for the Lady Lions, who will be trying to avenge a 30-point loss in Columbus back in January. The game tips at noon. Tickets are available at www.ticketmaster.com.

Adam Swartz Puppets Presents: Sunday Afternoon Live – A variety show featuring Swartz’s puppets will also feature people from the community coming together for an afternoon of family entertainment and education.
