An interview with Hublersburg Inn chef Cody Pierce

HOWARD — There’s been a lot of buzz lately about the new chef at the Hublersburg Inn so we thought we would sit down with Cody Pierce and find out for ourselves how this local Inn caught his eye.

Why the Hublersburg Inn, I mean it’s out in the middle of nowhere?

Make a detour for these delicious out-of-town finds

We all have favorites stops downtown, but what about on the way back home? Take a detour and try some of our out-of-town finds. (Bonus: you'll beat some of the traffic, too!)

Heading North

Nittany Lion Inn has a delicious spring planned

UNIVERSITY PARK — The Nittany Lion Inn, located on campus, is Happy Valley's premier hotel experience where comfort and quality meet Penn State tradition. It features The Dining Room, a fine dining restaurant that turns any meal into a special occasion, and Whiskers, a casual, pub-style eatery. And, as if their signature menus were not delicious enough (that lobster bisque!), their specials like Winesday and PA on the Patio highlight their extensive wine list, imaginative dishes and delicious seasonal foods. Turn a meal into an unforgettable experience at The Nittany Lion Inn.

At Dante's, farm to table is the only way

A few weeks ago, I went to a new, impossible-to-get-into restaurant in Minneapolis. It was proudly farm-to-table and all from scratch.

“We even have a butcher right here on the premises!” our server added brightly.

“Old news,” I thought to myself while I sipped my $15 cocktail. “It's already been done.”

Eberle Wine Dinner set for Sept. 28

If it’s football season in Happy Valley, then it must be Eberle Wine Dinner Time.

Hailing from the Paso Robles region of California, legendary wine maker and Penn State graduate Gary Eberle will be at the Nittany Lion Inn for his annual Eberle Wine Dinner on Thursday, Sept. 28. Reception hour begins at 5:30 p.m. Dinner service begins at 6:30 p.m.

Our Favorite Outside Eats

Now that the seemingly unending cold and snow has made way for warmer temperatures and sunny skies, Happy Valley visitors and residents alike can enjoy a multitude of summer activities. After hiking Mt. Nittany, a day on the lake in Raystown or taking in one of the many fun festivals that occur over the next few months, try one of our favorite restaurants that offer an al fresco dining option, and enjoy a little more of the great outdoors … before winter hits!
